Otago humbles Canty
PA Dunedin Assertive batting by Ken Rutherford and Warren Lees, supplemented by an excellent display in the field, enabled Otago to trounce Canterbury by 109 runs in the Shell Cup cricket match at the University Oval yesterday. A much more purposeful Otago team outbatted, outbowled, and outfielded Canterbury to end its Shell Cup campaign with a flourish. In its 50 overs, Otago made 208 for seven wickets, in 188 minutes, after Cran Bull, the Canterbury captain, won the toss and elected to field. Canterbury was unable to recover from another
wretched start to its innings and was all out for 99, in 165 minutes and 40.3 overs. Stephen Boock, who took three cheap wickets, was named man of the match. OTAGO G. J. Dawson c Brown b Thiele 0 K.
