Drilling rig on move

PA Wellington The drilling rig Benreoch is expected to move to the site of the Tahi-1 well this week-end. This is 54km offshore, South of the Kapuni mining licence, in 84m of water. The new well will be drilled to about 1750 m, says the Petroleum Corporation of New Zealand (Exploration), Ltd. The corporation says the well will be spudded in early next week. Drilling is

scheduled to take 28 days.

Tahi-1 will be the first well drilled offshore under the operation of a New Zealandowned company for a group including other New Zealandowned joint venturers. The Petroleum Corporation of New Zealand (Exploration), Ltd, says the Ngatoro-1 well is drilling ahead at a depth of 2811 metres. Short-term production tests are continuing on the Tuhua structure.
