New instant lottery
NZPA-AAP Sydney A new instant lottery’ game called “Money Bags” with a maximum prize of $25,000 will be launched on Monday, the New South Wales Minister of Finance, Mr Terence Sheahan, announced yesterday. Mr Sheahan said that $25,000 was the biggest instant lottery prize in Australia and was $15,000 more than the previous highest instant prize in New South Wales.
The super draw has been dropped and the entire pool has been incorporated into the instant prize structure, making "Money Bags" the first all-instant lottery’ in the state. The present instant lottery, “Sunny Days,” incorporates a super draw with a final prize of $1 million. Mr Sheahan said it would be the last super draw. Mr Sheahan also announced that for the first time the instant lotteries
would be printed in Canada by British American Bank Note, Inc. Awarding the contract to British American was the first stage in the plan to print the tickets in New South Wales, he said. No printery in the state had the technology at present to produce the notes. The Minister said that British American was negotiating with an Australian company to establish a joint venture.
