Record price for doll
NZPA-AP London A record auction price for a doll of almost SUSI7,OOO (about $26,000) was paid in London yesterday for a wooden doll made in England about 1735. “The doll has unusually well carved ankles and calves—all the experts say they are her finest points,”
said a spokesman for the auctioneer, Sotheby’s. The 43cm figure of a girl, with real auburn hair, jointed limbs, and in its original cotton, silk, and satin clothes, came from Northern Ireland and was bought by an anonymous dealer.
