Police await test results

Although homicide has been discounted in the death of Craig Keelan, aged 19, in a Christchurch street last Friday, detectives still await the results of tests on body samples which should firmly establish the cause of death. “The full facts of the matter will emerge at the Coroner’s inquest,” said Detective Senior-Sergeant R. A. Meikle.

The police said yesterday that glue-sniffing was not thought to have been a factor in the death of Mr Keelan, of Woolston, whose body was found on a traffic island at the intersection of Ferry Road and St Asaph Street about 10.30 p.m. Detectives have spoken to two men who were seen with Mr Keelan not long before he died. No charge will be laid against them.
