N.Z. runs hot

PA Dunedin A blistering second-round finish by the New Zealand golf team sent the Oklahoma University side reeling at the Chisholm Park links yesterday. The university team goes into today’s final round with a six-stroke lead, but it should have been a lot more. It led by 16 strokes with just five holes remaining. The New Zealand charge was led by the Canterbury amateur, Brent Paterson, who started in a disastrous fashion carding a four-over 38 for the front nine. However, he stormed home with five birdies for a five-under 32.

The best scores of the day were two-under-par 69s by Oklahoma’s Greg Turner and New Zealand’s Bob Charles.
