Program supplied

A New Zealand-written computer program has found its way to Venezuela, to help a Caracas industrial gas company manage its business. CBL Holdings, Ltd, under contract to the Californian company MSI Data Corporation, is writing programs for users of MSTs portable data entry terminals. A.G.A. Venezolana C.A. uses its terminals to monitor the receiving and dispatching of its 70,000 gas cylinders. Each cylinder has

been bar coded, and the MSI terminals can read the code through a bar code attachment. Salesmen for the company also use MSI terminals on their rounds. CBL’s Christchurch developers wrote the controlling program for A.G.A., using Spanish prompts for guiding the operators of the terminals. Error and other messages from the software will also display in Spanish — one of 11 languages supported by the CBL system.
