Cardiac units
Sir,—ln 1978 the then Mr Muldoon received a petition from the people of Christchurch on the need for a cardiac unit in Christchurch. He gave his word then—and we still wait. Mr Malcolm shows a lack of understanding of the problem, especially the reasons why the
rate for Christchurch people is higher than in other main centres. Maybe the needs of the south are different from those of the north. It took an election year (1984) for power charges to become different. Funny how election year often brings a change of heart. I hope the M.P.s of the south do not need a change of their hearts in 1984— thev may not be as lucky as the Deputy Prime Minister was in Auckland.—Yours, etc., J. P. GAVIGAN. January 5, 1984.
