Fire on rig
PA New Plymouth A fire occurred "on the SEdco 600 offshore drilling rig on New Year’s day, it was learned yesterday. The rig’s operator, Shell BP Todd, said the fire was in one of the rig’s air compressor control panels. Shell BP Todd’s public relations officer, Mr Don Sharp, said one of the compressor motors had to be replaced because of the fire. Drilling was stopped for four or five hours.
