Viggers winner of entertaining final
The New Zealand representative, Paul Viggers, started his 1984 squash year on a winning note with a fourgame win over Craig Hibbert in - the Summer club’s New Year tournament yesterday. In an entertaining final, Viggers beat Hibbert, 2-9, 9-4, 9-7, 9-8. He played a number of his favourite trick shots. The women’s A grade title was won in a round-robin by Carolyn Oakley, whom Viggers will marry in March. Results:— Men A grade.—Semi-finals: P. Viggers (Sumner) beat B. Michelson (Sumner), 9-3, 9-8, 9-1; C. Hibbert (Linwood) beat B. Hibbert (Linwood), 6-9, 9-2, 9-0, 9-0. Final: Viggers beat C. Hibbert, 2-9, 9-4, 9-7, 9-8. Playoff for third: Michelson beat B.
