Hornby wins darts again

Hornby White won the Suburban darts competition for the third consecutive year when it beat Hilton, 4-0, in the final at the Carlton Hotel last Saturday.

In the semi-finals between the section winners, Hornby had eliminated Parklands, and Hilton had beaten Ferrymead. It was a brave effort by Ferrymead, which lost 4-1, in its first year in the grade. Tony Ratapu was its best player. Brent Bartholomew, Arthur Ayres, and Peter O’Connor were in fine form for Hornby. Bartholomew had the highest tournament finishing break, 140, O’Connor recorded the only 180, and Ayres won the over-all player award.
