Actress keen to sue Hinckley
NZPA-AP New York The actress, Jodie Foster, says she would have loved to sue John Hinckley who tried to assassinate President Reagan almost 2Vz years ago in what he said was an effort to impress her. During his Court trial Hinckley said that he fell in love with Miss Foster, then aged 20, after repeatedly watching the film, “Taxi Driver,” in which Miss Foster played a child prostitute. Miss Foster, who attends Yale University, said she thought it unfair that “lawyers were able to protect Hinckley’s trust fund, yet figured it out in such a way that if someone were to
sue him, he does not have any money. “I would have loved to sue him,” Miss Foster said. “I spent so much money for something I had nothing to do with,” she said, in an interview to be published in “Parade” magazine. Asked to comment on Hinckley’s recent claims that he is recovered and has no intention of harming himself, Miss Foster, or the President, she said, “I don’t think he will get out. “It would just cause too much controversy, and they would have to change the whole law regarding the insanity plea,” Miss Foster said.
