Powerlifting titles
Kevin Farrell, of the Bower club in Christchurch, set a New Zealand junior record in the 108 kg division at the recent South Island powerlifting championships at Dunedin. Farrell set the record in the squat lift of 227.5 kg. He also recorded a bench press of 110 kg and a dead lift of 230 kg. Terry Clarke, also of the Bower club, recorded a dead lift of 252.5 kg to set a New Zealand record in the 67kg division, and in the 85.6 kg section. Trevor Edwards (Y.M.C.A.) set both New Zealand and Canterbury junior' records. Edwards lifted 250 kg in the dead lift for his Canterbury mark, and 212 kg from the
squat for the national record. Lance Brake (Y.M.C.A.), Peter Brown (Bower), Teso leti (Y.M.C.A.) and Dave Smith (Bower) also set provincial marks in their respective classes. Canterbury results:— T.
