Mrs Philippa Farrant (left) and Miss Bronwen McKay, both members of Sea Rangership Canterbury, model wedding dresses at the Manhattan Lounge, Kerrs Reach, last evening. Mrs Farrant models the gown that won her the 1979 Nelson Bride of the Year contest and Miss McKay models a dress worn at a wedding in North Otago in 1860. The evening was held to raise funds for a trip to Tasmania by 35-40 girls from Sea Rangership Canterbury. About 100 dresses, from the 1860s to 1983, were displayed by members of the organisation. Some were modelled by the daughters of the women who originally wore the dresses. Press, 23 November 1983, Page 9
