Bowie train

A South Island “Bowie excursion train” has been organised to take fans to David Bowie’s outdoor concert at Athletic Park, Wellington, on November 24.

The Bowie train can seat 400 people, and begins its journey in Dunedin at 11.45 p.m. on November 23. The train will leave Christchurch at 6.15 a.m. on November 24 and connect with the Cook Strait ferry. Buses at Wellington ferry terminal will take passengers to the concert.

After the concert the fans will go to an all-night rock ’n’ roll party at Olivers nightclub, featuring three Wellington bands and a buffet meal.

At 5.30 a.m., November 25, the fans will leave the party for the ferry terminal to begin the trip home. The train will arrive in Christchurch at 6 p.m.

The Bowie train has been organised by the Wellington representatives of the Paul Dainty Corporation. Radio Avon can be contacted about the sale of the excur-

sion tickets which cost $l5O each, which includes the price of the rail journey, ferry crossing, concert admission, and party. The support acts for the Bowie concerts have been announced.

Dance Exponents of Christchurch will doubtless be thrilled that they have been added to the bill, as the shows will provide extra exposure for their album, “Prayers Be Answered.” Dance Exponents are in the North Island now on the album tour.

With Dance Exponents are a Melbourne band, The Models. THey are not wellknown in New Zealand apart from a Sweetwaters appearance and the fact that Buster Stiggs, once the sticksman for The Swingers, left that band to join The Models. He has since departed.

Booking offices in Auckland and Wellington are now handling counter sales for the shows. Mail orders have closed, with more than 50,000 tickets sold.
