Waitemata council orders probe
PA Auckland The Waitemata City Council’s solicitor has been asked to carry out a full investigation into all aspects of the city’s scenic driver and to report back urgently. The council’s policy and finance committee spent more than an hour in committee discussing a defamation writ filed by the council against the newly-
elected Mayor of Waitemata, Mr Tim Shadbolt. The committee’s chairman, Mr Brian Slater, said he expected a .report from the City Solicitor within the next- fortnight. He said the call for a full investigation did not indicate a change in the council’s stance to go ahead with legal action, or indicate any belief that some part of the allegations made might be true.
