Man fires shot
A man will appear in the District Court this morning after a shot was fired outside the Shirley Lodge Motor Hotel, Marshland Road, last evening. No-one was injured but a car windscreen was shattered in the incident, shortly before 7 p.m. A cut-down .22 rifle was found in the vicinity, a police spokesman said. A man, in his early 30s, had been arrested and charged with the unlawful possessin of a pistol.
