Samples taken in probe

PA Napier More than 100 samples have been taken from an address in the Napier-Hast-ings area by forensic experts in the investigation into the disappearance of the Napier schoolgirl, Kirsa Jensen.

This was revealed yesterday by Detective SeniorSergeant W. R. Withers, who declined to comment when asked if the police had narrowed their inquiries to one suspect. But he did say, “We had reasons to take samples from a specific address. These are being evaluated. We still hold high hopes of solving this crime.” Detective Senior-Sergeant Withers said that more than 100 samples had been taken from one house last week by two scientists from Wellington.

These would be tested against samples found on the rope used to tie Kirsa Jensen’s horse to the Ngaruroro gun emplacement on September 1. Detective Senior-Sergeant Withers, who is second in command of the investigation, described the tests as complex and said it could be up to two weeks before results were through.

Kirsa Jensen, aged 14, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs Daniel Jensen, disappeared after riding her horse along the beach at Awatoto.
