The Diamond Harbour and Bays’ Bowling Club has a new pavilion this season, and it might well have set a record in the speed with which it was built. A member gave some trees, which were felled on April 14.

They were taken to the property at Purau of another member, who has a sawmill on his farm. Construction was carried out by men who know something of building, with the willing support of a good supply of

“labourers.” There is a men’s and women’s club at Diamond Harbour with a combined strength of 36. The women did most of the interior painting and were responsible for the furnishings. The

skill they showed in recovering chairs and in rejuvenating tables and other articles hinted that there were no “labourers” there. the building was opened six months and a week after the felling of the trees.
