Four overseas show judges

An Anglican clergyman from Australia will be one of four overseas judges at the Canterbury show this week.

The Rev. John Parish, of Alstonville, New - South Wales, will officiate in the donkey section.

Mr Parish and his wife own the Nestine Donkey Stud which has been the most prolific ribbon-winning stud in the north coast area of New South Wales during the last eight years. The stud has 12 donkeys with two more foals due before the end of this year. Mr Parish has judged donkeys at several shows and also at the 1982 New South Wales Championships. He has lectured on show preparation, presentation and judging at donkey seminars and appeared at the Australian College of Advanced Agricultural Science.

He is a keen supporter of shows, being a past secretary of the Alstonville Agricultural Show Society, on the committee of the Agricultural Societies Council of N.S.W., and a member of the Equestrial Federation of Australia sub-committee. He is also a senior showjumping steward in northern N.S.W.

Mr M. Pragmell, a Jersey breeder from Sussex, England, will judge the Jersey section. Mr Pragmell wifi be accompanied by the president of the Jersey Society of Great Britain, Mr G. Riel - who lives in

Jersey, and who will judge elsewhere in New Zealand. The Friesian judge will be Mr D. Vallence, of Katandra West, Victoria; and a well-known Merino breeder, Mr W. Merriman, of Boorowa, New South Wales, will officiate in the Merino section, continuing the show’s association with Merino judges from Australia. The list of show judges is: HORSES .
