Building permits rise
PA Wellington Permits for new houses and flats rose 24.1 per cent in August compared with the previous August. Permits for 1629 new houses and flats with a value of $81.2 million were issued in August this year.
This brings the total for the year ended August to 16,138 new dwelling units authorised, compared with 18,974 last year. Of the 1629 units this August, 11 were authorised by the Government, compared with 39 in August 1982.
