All prices are in kilograms unless otherwise stated. Prices have been taken from shops in western Christchurch. Retail prices surveyed yesterday do not necessarily reflect the prices at the markets because many shopowners will have bought produce earlier in the week and paid higher dr lower prices.

Today’s recipe STRAWBERRY TART
200 gm sweet short pastry. 1% cups of boiling water. 1 packet red jelly. % punnet strawberries. Method: Roll, out the pastry to fit a 18cm flan tin. Bake blind for 15 to 20 minutes in a moderate oven, centre shelf, cool. Dissolve jelly in boiling water, cool and chill until starting to set, pour a thin layer on flan. Arrange washed and hulled strawberries over the jelly. Pour on remaining jelly, chill to set.
