Appeal for blind raises $1.37M
PA Wellington The Royal New Zealand Foundation for the Blind announced yesterday that its annual appeal collected more than $1,375,000 this year, up 7 per cent, according to early estimates. The chairman of its board of trustees, Mr Don McKenzie, said he was delighted with the success of the appeal, and thanked the public for their generosity and the 40,000 volunteers who helped with the appeal. About 6300 people in New Zealand are blind or partially blind.
