Gavin M. Cox
The North Canterbury grain and seed manager for Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Ltd, Mr Gavin M. Cox, has passed away suddenly at the age of 45. He was widely known and respected in farming circles and the grain and seed trade, having been in the employ of Pyne, Gould, Guinness for over 27 years. He joined the company after a short period with H. Matson and Co, and after a period of training was appointed as grain and merchandise agent for P.G.G. in North Canterbury. For many years ‘ he was stationed at Hawarden before being transferred to Christchurch where he rose to the position of grain and seed manager for the North
Canterbury activities of the company. He had a wide experience in all facets of this industry and had also been closely associated with the development of the company’s “Ceres” Research Station and also acted as New Zealand marketing manager for research and development activities of P.G.G. He was past president of the North Canterbury Agricultural Merchants Federation and had been involved in many committees associated with the trade; His passing will be a great loss to the industry. He had a great interest in sport and was a lover of the outdoor life.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, and daughter. ’
