PA Auckland The international renowned journalist, Alistair Cooke, said on his arrival in Auckland yesterday that a passion for landscapes had lured him to New Zealand. “I am a landscape bug,” said Mr Cooke, aged 75, soon after arriving at Auckland Airport from' the United, States with his wife, Jane.Jx, Interviewed while waiting
for a flight to Wellington, where he will deliver a lecture on world communications, Mr Cooke said he had previously received three invitations to visit New Zealand. “I have always resisted travelling long distances to deliver a lecture and going back two days - later. turn down the invitation from the of the Wellington lecture, because he had been offered an opportunity to tour New Zealand. “The invitation sounds fine,” he said. “Everyone said New Zealand had the most varied landscape; you could have inside, an area the size of Colorado, sb. that was exciting”
