Merino wool record

Record prices in Christchurch for Merino wool of more than 800 c a kilogram for several lots enlivened an otherwise disappointing wool sale yesterday. Top of the market was two bales of super fine Merino woolly hogget fleece from Mr. Norton Giles, of Waihopai Valley, Blenheim, which sold at 880 c. This broke the Christchurch record price established earlier this year of 700 c, but was well short of the New Zealand record set at Dunedin last year of $29.75 a kilogram.
