Gifts from train trips
Recreational excursions by train to Arthur’s Pass have resulted in several cash gifts to local charities. A spokesman for Rail Tours said that it had bought two lightweight aluminium folding stretchers for the St John Ambulance Brigade. Two cash gifts would be made to the patients of Sunnyside and Templeton hospitals. A total of $872 had been made from the three winter excursions, which attracted 900 people.
