$450,000 raised
The Arthritis and Rheumatism Foundation raised about $450,000 in its first national house-to-house appeal last Monday. About $33,000 was collected in Canterbury. A spokesman for the foundation, Mr Ron Wilton, said he was delighted with the response to the appeal,
particularly in Canterbury. Money was still being sent in from some areas which were not covered in Monday evening’s collection. Proceeds from the appeal will be used to fund the foundation’s welfare, education, and research programmes.
