Labour Day A.E.B. show
1 Nine bands have given their time free to entertain the public at the Gladstone Hotel on Labour Day (Monday)./ The event is to raise funds for the Alternative Entertainment Bureau, which wants to boost its coffers to, in addition to its normal gig-arranging, release a Los Angeles punk compilation album in New Zealand.
The album, absurdly titled “Millions Of Dead Cops,” belongs to the Alternative Tentacles label, which was formed by Jello Biafra, the leader of California’s favourite sons, the Dead Kennedys. Negotiations between the
A.E.B. and Alternative Tentacles have cleared the way for the New Zealand release.
Entrance to the Gladstone show on Monday is $l. The bands will play from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. The line-up includes the first Christchurch appearance of a leading Wellington punk band, Unrestful Movements. With them are the Venetians, X-Factor, Legless Brownies, Slippery Bricks, Our Scare, Horizon, Evasive Action, and the Battle of the bands finalists, the White Boys. The A.E.B. is also planning further albums on its own label, Scratched Records.
