Proportional voting
Sir, — I do not want any of the political parties prevalent at this time to become the government. Not one has ever or is ever likely to represent the majority of us. I want to be governed by a multiparty government proportionally represented by all parties. When I vote I want a preferential vote in a five member constituency where the seats are divided into the constituency votes arriving at a quota of votes a candidate must win to be elected. I want politics to be co-operative, not confrontative. I want to see party discipline subject to multi-party compromise. I want to see a cabinet open to non-party professionals; a multirepresentative executive subject to referendum. I want to see M.P.s concerned for New Zealand before their party interests. I want to see fearless independent media, regionalism devoid of government in-
ten'erence. I want to see government by the will of the people. — Yours, etc.,
L. J. ROBINSON. October 10, 1983.
