Imposing colt wins
NZPA Sydney Super Imposing, a son of the New Zealand-based sire, Imposing, won the first outing by any of the site’s progeny on either side of the Tasman when he cleared out with the $12,000 Formquip Hire Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday. The Tommy Smithtrained two-year-old colt raced right up to his two barrier trial wins to take the 900 m sprint by a length and a quarter, and could now be set for the $50,000 Silver Slipper Stakes at Rosehill in a fortnight. Super Imposing showed
his class when, after missing the start by a length and half, he turned on a blistering sprint to be third on the turn and then accelerated away to the line. Imposing, winner of an Epsom Handicap and Q.T.C. Stradbroke, stands at Ra Ora Stud, near Auckland, where he replaced the champion old sire, Sovereign Edition, which died last season.
Several other of Imposing’s progeny are preparing for racing in New Zealand, and a filly, Lady Lustre, will race for the first time next Saturday at Brisbane.
