Dog bites candidate

A German shepherd dog attacked Mr John Freeman, a Christchurch City Council West Ward candidate and sitting Drainage Board member when he was delivering leaflets in Papanui Road yesterday. “My shirt was ruined and it (the dog) drew blood,” he

said. He was treated at Christchurch Hospital and discharged. Dogs should be kept under proper control and candidates delivering leaflets should wear thicker clothing, said Mr Freeman.

“I’m glad I’m not a postman,” he said.
