SOUTH DIVISION ENGINEER Applications from registered engineers (holders of current practising certificate under the Engineers’ Registration Act 1924) are invited for the position of South Division Engineer, based in Balclutha. The South Division Engineer shall be responsible for the engineering activities of the Board’s South Division and seven staff. Considerable work is approved as part of the Lower Clutha Flood Control Scheme and on the Pomahaka and Owaka Rivers. It is desirable that applicants have experience in catchment authority work. Salary would be in the range $21,986-$27,487 (Sp. - Sp. 6 on the Board’s salary scale), depending on qualifications and experience. ENGINEERING OFFICER (BALCLUTHA) The Board has a ’position for an engineering officer at its Balclutha office. The engineering officer would assist the South Division Engineer in duties including construction. supervision, survey work, inspections and preparation of works proposals. It is desirable that the applicant have N.Z.C.E. and experience in the above activities. The salary for the position will be within the Board’s salary scale C.IV/1 - Sp. 4 ($15,554 to $24,739) depending on qualifications and experience. ASSISTANT CLASSIFIER The Board has created a new position of Assistant Classifier based In Dunedin, to assist the Classifier in some or all of the following: Classification for rating purposes, cost benefit reports, lease supervision and valuation, and land betterment. Experience and registration as a valuer would be preferred, but degrees and diplomas in agriculture, horticulture, agricultural engineering, valuation, farm management, property management and economics will be considered. The Board’s district is approximately 35,000 sq. km, and has a rateable Capital value of $4125M. Several major schemes in which the Assistant Classifier will be, involved are in progress or planned, and Include a SIOM upgrading of the Lower Taierl flood protection and drainage. The salary for the position will be within the Board’s salary scale C.III/1 to Sp.s ($16,664 to $26,111) and will depend on qualifications and experience. HYDROLOGICALTECHNICAL ASSISTANT The Board has a vacancy for a hydrologlcal/technical assistant in its water resources section, based in Dunedin. The principal duties will include the processing, analysis of hydrological and other data for the Board’s water resource management functions, and to assist in the preparation of reports and publications of a technical and/or management nature. The Board is seeking a person with tertiary qualifications in an appropriate field, with experience in hydrological data handling, particularly the use of computers. Previous experience with the TIDEDA data handling systems would be a definite advantage. Salary will be in the range $15,554-$19,394 (C.IV/1-CI on the Board's scale) depending on qualifications and experience.
