Lottery sub-committee

The first regional subcommittee of the Youth Services Distribution Committee of the New Zealand Lottery Board will be held in Christchurch today. The sub-committee has been set up on a trial basis in an attempt to decentralise the distribution of funds to projects involving young people “at risk.”

The sub-committee should be more aware of local needs and ways of meeting them than the national committee.

The sub-committee will administer all of the South Island north of the Waitaki River.

A total of $30,600 has been allocated to the sub-com-mittee to dispense to groups in the region during the next six months. Applications should still be sent to the Secretary of the New Zealand Lottery Board in Wellington. If the pilot scheme is successful, the sub-commit-tee will continue and other regional sub-committees will be set up.
