More beef needed
Increased beef production holds the key to New Zealand farming profitability, according to the Beef Promotion Council.
The council chairman, Mr Peter Snelling, said there was “immense scope” for the expansion of the national beef herd.

finding it increasingly difficult to market sheep and lamb profitably it is particularly disconcerting to be faced with an undersupply
of prime beef.” “We are currently receiving inquiries from the Japanese and Korean markets — markets we
haven’t supplied for a number of years — and we cannot find the quantities they are seeking.
