Home-help directory

A 72-page directory of home-help services available in Christchurch is ready to go to print. The directory was the idea of the Home Help Working Party and has been prepared from information collected by the Primary Care Unit of the North Canterbury Hospital Board. The convener of the working party, Mrs Annette Harris, said this information showed that although there were still gaps in home-help services, there were a lot more available than people. were aware of. The directory contains all the obvious social .jand home-help services arid a

number of additional services for housebound people. Mrs Harris said this was only a first edition. She envisaged that a more comprehensive edition might be produced in the future. Many agencies had been approached but she said that other agencies would probably come forward when they saw the directory. The directory will be available from the District Council of Social Services, the Citizens’ Advice Bureau, the City Council, and hospital services, although Mrs Harris was not sure when copies would be released.
