Obituary Mr W. A. Morrison

A Christchurch businessman and long-time president of the Canterbury Aero Club, Mr William Arthur Morrison, died last week. He was 61. Mr Morrison had a lifelong interest in flying, and was club president from 1966 to 1973. During that time, the Club funded and built a new. clubhouse at Harewood and set up a satellite airfield at West Melton.

Mr Morrison was elected

a life member of the club upon his retirement. At the time of his death, he was involved in a motor reconditioning firm. In the early 19705, he was instrumental in the development of a vehicle motor, which is now being used in New Zealand motor sports after further development. Mr Morrison was bom in Gisborne and educated in Timaru. He came to Christchurch in 1947. At times, his business involvements in-

eluded fruit and grocery shops. He was a past president of the Christchurch Fruit Retailers’ Association and a past vice-president of the New Zealand association.

He was a foundation member of the Burnside Bowling Club, and in 1976 was a member of the Burnside team that was runnerup in the New Zealand fours championship. Mr Morrison is survived by his wife. $
