Gas pipeline opening
PA Wellington The new Hawke’s Bay gas pipeline will be officially opened on September 30. The general manager of the Natural Gas Corporation, Mr Ron O’Callahan, said; the line was being filled in stages. The first stage, from Feilding to Takapau, has already been commissioned.
The Pahiatua lateral will be commissioned next, and the final section, from Takapau to Hastings.
The pipeline crosses the rugged Ruahine Ranges and two big rivers before following the State highway into Hastings. Construction began at the end of last year and was completed on schedule.
