Smelter staff from Aust.
PA Invercargill New Zealand Aluminium Smelters, Ltd, is recruiting professional engineers in Australia to overcome a shortage of qualified Applicants for positions as development engineers at the Tiwai Point aluminium smelter were being interviewed, said the company’s community relations officer, Mr John Petre yesterday. He said that the smelter was recruiting “flat out” from New Zealand universities, and had attempted to hire New Zealand staff whenever possible.
