Boat still stalled

PA Timaru The Soviet trawler Akmolinsk remained in port at Timaru yesterday after Timaru Harbour Board workers imposed a ban preventing the vessel from sailing for another two days. Negotiations between the Harbourmaster, Captain A. Grieve, and union officials yesterday failed to resolve the ban. The employees are protesting about the shooting down of the Korean airliner by the Soviet Union.

The executive of the union will meet again this morning to discuss whether the vessel will be permitted to sail for her fishing grounds.

The Akmolinsk is under charter to the Amatal Cool Stores and Exporters, Ltd, of Nelson. The company’s general manager, Mr K. W. Atkinson, declined to comment on the ban when approached in Nelson yesterday- £
