Big rigs on parade

The Ranfurly Shield procession through the centre of Christchurch on Saturday morning may not be any better or any brighter than those of the last two weeks, but in one respect it will certainly be bigger. The Road Transport Association, which is holding its conference in the city this week, is providing some of its big rigs for the occasion. Supporters of both Can-

terbury and Auckland, will be able to ride on the trucks. The procession will begin as usual at 9.30 a.m. and it will follow the same route from the Bridge of Remembrance, to Victoria Square via. Lichfield Street, Colombo Street and Cathedral Square. It is hoped that the Auckland mascot, Aru the elephant, will be in Christchurch in time to take his place in the parade.
