Mr Illusion sold to U.S.
Special correspondent Palmerston North
The top Awapuni galloper, Mr Illusion, has been sold to an American. The deal was finalised on Monday and his trainer, Cliff Goss, said yesterday morning that a Kentuckian had purchased the horse for a six-figure sum. Mr Illusion, a four-year-old horse by Sovereign Edition from An Illusion, won three of his four starts last season. He commenced his latest campaign on a winning note, running a track record of Imin 9.6 s for 1200 m at Hastings on Saturday. Goss will continue to train Mr Illusion through the summer months and the horse is not expected to go to the United States until next March.
The winter is approaching in the United States and as Mr Illusion does not handle soft tracks he will be kept here in the meantime. He will probably race next! at Otaki and then at Trentham.
