Home pit-stop for contenders
The Christchurch contenders, They Were Expendable and Not Really Anything, mark the end of their recent first national trek with home shows at the Gladstone this week-end.
The Expendables’ “Big Strain” EP has received very favourable reviews throughout New Zealand, and the .band was able to back up the write-ups with shows at venues such as the Rhumba Bar in Auckland.
A video of one of the “Big Strain” tracks has been prepared, and will hopefully get a television showing, to urge the EP into the charts. The band is Jay Clarkson (guitar, vocals), Dave Toland (drums) — both former Playthings — and Nick Strong (bass), with the occasional help_ of Debbie (vocals). Not Really Anything, who
boast a thumping doubledrummers line-up, are Frankie Prebble (bass), Rex Visible (guitar, vocals), Toland and Robert Key (both drums). They may soon release a twelve-inch live single.
The return to Christchurch for the two bands is brief however, as they are both booked to support The Church on all the Australian group’s October dates.
