Taranaki unbeaten
PA New Plymouth Taranaki’s Kieran Crowley passed 200 points for the season when he helped his team to a 51-9 win over Thames Valley in their representative match, on Saturday.
Crowley scored one of Taranaki’s nine tries and also kicked six conversions and a penalty in the game, which was played in wet conditions at Rugby Park, New Plymouth. His tally now stands at 205.
Taranaki’s win kept it unbeaten in the North Island second division competition. Thames Valley did not have the best preparation for the match because five players scheduled to travel
by air from Paeroa to New Plymouth on Saturday were grounded by bad weather, and had to make the trip quickly by car. The game was delayed 15 minutes because of their late arrival, and when Thames Valley finally ran on to the field it conceded a converted try in the first minute. Taranaki led 17-3 at half time. Scorers:
Taranaki: Bryce Robins (2), Murray Watts, Trevor Hucker, Lyall Bunn, Merv Dudley, Ray Wishnowsky, Kieran Crowley, Brian Quin tries, Crowley six conversions, penalty. Thames Valley: Irvine Campbell try. Murray Silvester conversion, penalty.
Taranaki unbeaten
