Duchess ‘getting better’

NZPA London The Duchess of Kent, troubled by ill-health since April, was getting better and would resume her official engagements next month, a Royal spokesman said yesterday.

But he said that the SO-

year-old Duchess, wife of the Queen’s cousin, the Duke of Kent, would accept fewer public engagements. The Duchess, one of the busiest members of the Royal Family, underwent surgery to remove an ovarian cyst five months ago. She has suffered periodic

bouts of illness since she had a miscarriage in 1977.

Her spokesman said that she had 16 public engagements planned, starting on October 20 when she and her husband would attend the London premiere of the movie, “La Traviata.”
