National boxing titles

PA Timaru Fast and furious Vincent Marino scored his second win at the national boxing championships in Timaru last evening.

On the opening night Marino (Gisborne) beat Bruce Mclntosh (Wellington) in the preliminary bouts of the 57-60 kg class.

He met Les Bower (Southland) in the second round and found him a game opponent. However, the always advancing Marino proved too fast and too strong for Bower in a bout fought at a furious pace. Marino meets Julius Leuii in the final tonight. Results.—
