First McMurdo flights delayed

Blowing snow and low visibility once again caused the postponement this morning of the first flights of the season from Christchurch to McMurdo Station in Antarctica.

The United States Navy had planned two Hercules flights for each of yesterday, today, and Friday this week, taking the first passengers and cargo to Antarctica since the end of February.

The terminal operations officer of the United States Naval Support Force Antarctica, Major C. C. Hall, said they have been rescheduled to leave at 2.30 a.m. and 4 a.m. tomorrow morning. Major Hall said that important equipment and operators were to be carried south on the flights and they would just have to wait until the weather improved for landings;
