Aust. Colts battle

PA Hamilton The Australian Colts rugby team had to battle its way to a 25-9 win over the Waikato Colts scoring three late tries at Hamilton’s Rugby Park yesterday. The Waikato under-21 side produced an excellent performance against the highly rated Australian team holding it to 6-6 at half time and playing particularly well in the forwards.

The New South Wales wing, lan Williams scored ‘three tries for the Australians two of them as the result of uncharacteristic lapses in the Waikato defence, while the other wing, David Campese, scored the other. Scorers. — Australia: I. Williams (3); D. Campese tries; M. Lynagh 3 conversions and a penalty. Waikato: R. Pacey 2 penalties kicks and a dropped goal.
