The former New Zealand speedway champion, Larry Ross, of Christchurch, leads from Erik Gundersen (Denmark) in a heat of the intercontinental final of the world speedway championship at White City, London, recently. Ross was well below his best, scoring only one point and finishing last among the 16 starters. Gundersen was third over all, behind Hans Nielsen (Denmark), the winner, and Michael Lee (England). Mitch Shirra was the only New Zealand rider to qualify for the world final next month.
