Govt increases youth grants

PA Wellington The Goverment has approved increases in capitation and physical welfare grants for youth work, the Under-Secretary of Internal Affairs, Mr Thompson, has said. The grants, which are made to established national youth organisations for leadership training, development and administration, are up just over 15 per cent for this financial year. This follows last year’s increase of 20 per cent. Capitation grants, made to eight uniformed organisations, increase to $69 for each 100 members, from

last year’s $6O. Recipients are: Scouts Association, Girl Guides, Boys Brigade, Girls Brigade, Salvation Army, Order of St John, New Zealand Rally Council, and the Seventh Day Adventist Pathfinders. Increased physical welfare grants will be paid to: National Council of Y.M.C.A. ($31,789), Y.W.C.A. ($17,277), National Youth Council ($52,521), Youth Hostel Association ($4146), Leadership Grants Committee, National Council of Churches ($9675), Toe H ($1382), Marching Association ($829), Young Christian Workers’ Movement ($4146), Red Cross Society ($17,277)..
